The Water Project - Part 1

a clean water well, holding water tank, and rain capture gutters enriched the whole village

A story that ends with clean, cool water

Over 1000 people in the village now benefit with the new well, water tank, and rain capture gutters.

BAF's supported families and other locals in the village were excited about the project. The whole village came to dig the ditch to the nearby distribution hub. This allowed WASAC to build the station for the water meter and lay the pipes that were connected.

Here you see children drinking refreshing clean water directly from the well the first morning after it was connected. Look at the beautiful smiles as result.

your generous donations helped us complete The Water Project for just $1,850.00 USD

The village all joined in to help dig the mile long trench

This well means local women and children are be able to wash clothes, do dishes, and gather water for their homes more easily. The whole community uses the swamp water at bottom of the mountain. It is used for absolutely everything including drinking water and cooking meals.

It gives the children starting at just five years old the opportunity to attend school on time, instead of the difficult task of fetching water during morning chores.

The cost to fill a 20 liter or 5.3 gallon jug is just .20 cents, yet this cost several times a day was just too expensive for the families. BAF is currently absorbing the cost to provide each family a fixed daily amount of free, clean, and accessible water. Eric believes these families deserve a better way, because they are already struggling to provide, and clean water is a basic need.

additional water supply for agriculture, animals, and foundation protection

Rain gutters catch much needed water - no waste

So water isn't wasted, roof gutters and the larger holding tank provide rainwater to the gardens and the animals. It is also necessary protection against erosion to the building's foundation during torrential downpours.

The well comes with a metered monthly cost, but it is potable water. The holding tank captures rainwater, yet not the best for human consumption without proper maintenance and testing.

Your fully funded donations to part 1 of the water project not only provided clean water, but it restored the communities health, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
